Big Shoes, a heartfelt play about a family of comedians, will make its feature-length premiere at The Hope Theatre in Islington this July.

Big Shoes tells the story of two brothers – a former double act – reuniting at the funeral of their absent father, who in his living days was a famous clown. Despite the brothers’ deep love for each other, their bond is threatened by their own bitter grudges and bad habits. Big Shoes combines theatre with stand-up comedy and clown to explore ideas of family, community, and legacy, ultimately seeking hope and connection in our age of isolation.

  • The play runs at The Hope Theatre in Islington from 8th-12th July, with performances starting at 7.45pm.
  • Tickets can be purchased via The Hope Theatre website.
  • Big Shoes is directed by Tom Greaves, the award-winning creator of Fringe hit Fudgey, and mastermind of the PEN Theatre’s sell-out Gutter comedy nights.
  • Longlisted for the Theatre503 International Playwriting Award.
  • Big Shoes is produced by Autonymic Theatre, in co-production with Isabelle Kirk.
