Dr Roland Enmarch, informed the school that his friend, ON Steven Doody, passed away on the 5th of August. His funeral was held in St Nicholas’ Church here in Newport on Friday 30th August.
Steven Doody attended Adams from 1989 – 1996 and from early on, Roland remembers that he had a “gift of a prodigious memory” and following the 1992 General Election, “memorised not just all the MPs of the new UK parliament, but was also actually able to quote from memory all their majorities as well.” He describes him as a “gifted public speaker” within the William Adams Art and Debating Society.
On leaving Adams, Steven went to Oxford to study History where he joined many notable figures in becoming the President of the Oxford University Conservative Association and built himself notoriety for his "larger-than-life personality" and his taste for elegant vintage clothing. He later became a teacher of history to Sixth formers at City College in Norwich.
