ON Tom Pym gives a chess masterclass

Former U16s Chess Champion, Tom Pym, played our whole chess team!

ON Tom (2008) was approached by our current chess lead, Dr Al Murani, to come into school to give encouragement to our recently-revived chess team, who recently came second place in the regional final of the English Schools Chess Championships. He played the whole group in a simultaneous game, working his way around the tables making lightning-fast decisions on each board.

He later toured the school, and bumped into Mr Mulhern in front of a photo from his school days outside the Sports Hall.

After leaving Haberdashers' Adams, Tom went to Warwick University to study Mathematics before training as an Actuary. He now works for Aviva as a Lead Data Scientist pricing Health Insurance.
