Our sports pavilion at Longford was originally built in the early 70s but had started to look very sorry for itself. The campaign to raise money to replace it was launched towards the end of 2019 and we were awarded a grant for a large portion of it by the Department for Education. We were also very lucky to have very generous donations from our ONs, parents and other members of the school community.

The new sports pavilion was completed in April 2020 but was officially opened at the end of 2021. Now, it is a facility to be proud of - our teams have somewhere warm and comfortable where they can shower, change and gather, and they no longer have to feel embarrassed when hosting teams from other schools. One of our Old Novaportans very kindly donated £100k to name the new pavilion in memory of his old games teacher, Lynn James, who was in charge of physical education and games at Adams’ from 1963 until 1986. Sadly he died at the young age of fifty-two while refereeing a First XV match at Longford.

However, we still have a shortfall of almost £250k and continue to fundraise to cover this. There are still opportunities available to name a changing room and the main hospitality area.

We also launched a "Buy a Plaque" campaign in 2021 - offering Adams' community members the chance to purchase a personalised plaque to be displayed on the main wall of the hospitality area. This is a perfect memento for a former pupil who has enjoyed being part of the sporting heritage at Adams.
