Career Paths |
During the last week of term we are running a number of careers related events which will only happen with the assistance of our wonderful alumni community. We have events requiring ONs at all stages of their professional lives from student/ apprentice to seasoned professional.
ON Forum Thursday 17th July 10.30am
This event is for Lower 6th pupils and is designed to give them the opportunity to speak to ONs who have recently left Adams and are either a university student or recent graduate, an apprentice or an employee. We would love to welcome as many ONs as possible who have left since 2020. You won’t need to prepare anything in advance but will simply wait for pupils who are interested in your course, subject, employer or career path to approach you with their questions. It is normally a very relaxed and sociable occasion and a good opportunity to catch up with your year group and with staff members who love to hear how you are getting on.
Mock Assessment Centre Tuesday 15th July AM
This is a new event and is for Lower 6th pupils to help them prepare for their post school lives. As part of the activity we will be offering all of the year group a one-to-one mock interview. This won’t be profession or job specific so if you are used to interviewing candidates, especially early years candidates, for roles we would love your assistance. We will provide examples questions or if you prefer you can use your own examples of behavioural style questions. Volunteers will conduct 4 interviews across the morning and will also be asked to provide feedback on the pupil’s interview and on their CV.
This volunteering opportunity is suitable for anyone who is used to conducting interviews, this could be you or alternatively you could see if someone else in your organisation or network would be able to assist.
Speed Networking Monday 14th July 1.30pm
This event is for Year 9 pupils and involves talking to a small group of pupils and answering their questions about your role. The aim is to introduce pupils to a wide range of jobs and professions and to encourage them to consider the skills and qualifications they require. This volunteering opportunity is suitable for anyone, whether they are at the start of their career or more experienced and whether they work for themselves or a multinational company. Again if you can’t take part yourself do you know someone in your company or network who would like to share their experience?
If you think you would be able to assist please do get in touch with Sonya Wilson (sonya.wilson@adamsgs.uk)
