ON mentor helps Habs Adams team at the Livery Awards

ON Dayaanan Muthukrishnan, or Didi, provided mentoring support to our entrepreneurial sixth form team and the Haberdashers Livery Award competition.

The Haberdashers’ Company hosted teams from multiple Habs schools last week. Teams comprising of sixth form students were briefed to develop a solution to address a particular challenge in their community using technology, working towards a more sustainable future. The winning team from the event will compete against schools from other liveries.

Team Habs Adams proposed an idea called Trailblaze which aimed to encourage the use of rented e-bikes along the greenway between Stafford and Newport for commuting to and from work or school in the two towns, in addition to using the e-bikes as a family to promote a healthy lifestyle.

They were judged on:

  • Commercial potential and financial understanding
  • The quality of the presentation, and display of teamwork
  • The team’s performance in the Q&A session
  • Originality of the idea

The team were mentored by one of our ONs from the class of 2017, Dayaanan Muthukrishnan, known as Didi in school. Didi now works for the Bank of America in London. His time and guidance were very gratefully received by the Adams team.

In the end, it was the team from Haberdashers' Crayford Academy that won the heat and will progress to the finals, competing against  schools from other liveries at Mansion House in January.

If you feel that you can provide some time mentoring our students in your area of expertise, please do complete the “careers and mentoring” section of your profile. Our ONs and the support they provide are what make us such a special school.
