Habs Aspire is an initiative from the Haberdashers' Company that connects year 12 students not only from Adams, but also Abraham Darby in Telford, with professionals from our extensive membership and community networks. The programme aims to build confidence, increase awareness of different career paths, and give students practical advice and support as they move into the wider world.

We are looking for mentors for our soft launch this academic year from a wide range of professional backgrounds and stages in their career. The most important thing is a commitment to the programme and an interest in supporting young people.

Habs Aspire mentors are:

  • Passionate about supporting young people
  • Strong communicators with good inter-personal skills
  • Good listeners
  • Flexible
  • Non-judgmental
  • Supportive and empathetic
  • Candid and honest

As a mentor you will provide individual support and guidance to mentees to support them to reach their goals. Working together you will create a plan and support your mentee to set targets, structure conversations and prepare for their future.

Whether you are an experienced mentor, or have never worked with this age group before, we will equip you with the training and resources you need to support a Haberdasher Sixth Former to reach their goals.

Within the Haberdashers' West Midlands Academy Trust, Aspire is managed by Jess France. To find out more from the team about the programme via aspire@hwmat.org.uk .
