Updates from our ONs |
Richard Gaskin came into school recently to speak about his career in Finance, which is an area that many of our students are interested in. He spoke to a group of sixth formers in the library first, then spoke to the Business and Economics students about how they can use their advantage of an education at Adams to get them noticed in the workplace to climb the career ladder. He highlighted the need to do something that they enjoy and work towards a work/life balance.
Richard left school with A levels in English Literature, Economics and Maths. Rather than taking the traditional university route, he went straight into the work place with an entry-level job at first Lloyds Bank, then at 3M. He then started at Ford, where he gained experience in several different areas - which proved his adaptability to his employers. He has since worked for General Electric, and several private equity companies, giving him the opportunity to work in Poland, Russia and Ireland.
Richard is now the CEO of Oodle Car Finance and lives in London. Thank you to Richard for inspiring our pupils with your alternative route to success. It's so useful for the students to see that hard work and persistence can pay off as much as a degree.
