Updates from our ONs |
On Monday 16th December, Alex Fewtrell visited the school. Alex is an Old Novaportan (2022) who is in his third (and final) year studying History at Lincoln College, Oxford. He spoke to a range of students, from Year 9 to the Upper Sixth about studying history at Oxford University; one of his tutors is another former Adams’ student, Dr Josh Bennett, who is Associate Professor in the History of European Political and Social Thought.
During the lunch hour, Alex gave a talk to the Quibell Society on the American Civil War and British reactions to it. He drew a contrast between the abolitionists, who supported the North’s drive to end slavery, and that of Liverpool merchants who profited from slave grown cotton.
It was great to see Alex and we are very grateful to him for taking the time to share his experiences as well as his knowledge.
