The three siblings Michael, Suzanne and Christopher Voss spent some time this summer visiting the UK to research their family tree for a book that Michael is working on. Their ancestor, Charles Waring Saxton, came from Whitchurch but also spent time in New Zealand where his uncle had founded Christchurch College. He was headmaster here at Adams from 1846 - 1870 where his particular interest lay Latin and English, religious music. During his time here he also authored books on classical and modern literature.

The Voss family visited Haberdashers' Adams to see where their great, great grandfather and his wife, Mary, lived and worked with their 5 children.  There is a portrait of Charles hanging in the library.

If you would like to read more about the history of Adams, "Mr Adams' Free Grammar School" by David and Ruth Taylor is available to purchase in the alumni shop
