During the 10-plus years that Mrs. Webb has been at Adams, she has transformed both the look and the use of the library.

Those of you who are familiar with the Big School Library will know it was originally the only classroom in the school. It has been the beating heart of Adams since the school was founded in 1656 and it has flourished over the years, thanks to Mrs. Webb and her predecessor Mrs. Kosinksi, who Mrs. Webb says was an excellent guide and role model. We caught up with Mrs. Webb to ask her to share a few words before leaving - thank you Mrs. Webb!

Memoirs of a Librarian

One morning in 2012, I was asked if I could pop in for a bit and help out in the Library. I’m now leaving after ten years. In that time:

I’ve issued over 31,000 books.

I’ve never tripped up the Library stairs.

I’ve laughed too much, shushed a lot and only Charan Kandepalli has read more than I have.

I have cardigans in every colour.

I’ve made recommendations, read through personal statements, offered life coaching on every subject and critiqued Dixon Cup dances.

There have been so many wonderful young people whom I’ve met along the way, too numerous to mention, although there are some who definitely made their mark; Jacob Amao, Joseph Donnelly, the Class of 2017, Joel Newton, I’m talking about you!

During my time the Library has played host to lectures, House assemblies (loved the Webb House final assemblies – savage, but hilarious), ON reunions, the annual Deputations and a visit by Prince Edward.

I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with some incredible people who have supported, befriended and guided me through the quirky, unique world that is Adams.

Thank you to all the fabulous pupils I’ve encountered, to my awesome support staff family, and to the inspiring teachers who I am proud to say I’ve known.

I shall miss you all.

And please, keep reading, it truly is food for the soul.

Love from,
Mrs. Webb
