The whole school migrated to Longford for the House Rugby competition, back as a full-school event. This included a coaching clinic by 3 female sixth formers who play for Newport Ladies RFC, which left Mr. Mulhern wondering if we will eventually have our first ever Sevens U16 team representing Adams!
The overall results were:
First place - Talbot
Second place – Webb
Third place – Sa'adu
House netball took place on the same day, with each house having their pick of a wide selection of very capable potential players which made it a very close race, so much so that Miss Jones confirmed that “a two-goal swing in one match would have changed overall results and another two houses were tied on competition points and had to be separated by goal difference.”
The results were:
First place – Webb
Second place - Talbot
Third place - Owen
Just before the announcement of the Chaloner Cup at the handover assembly, we also found out the results for other House sporting events.
House Hockey – Talbot
House Badminton – Darwin
House Basketball – Sa’adu
House Football – Sa’adu
Taking all these results into consideration and all the others throughout the year, the overall winners of the Chaloner Cup are Talbot House – for the fifth year in a row! A fitting result for Dr Dolding’s last year as Head of House before Mr Healey takes over in September.
It has also been a great year for Sa'adu, who despite having only just reached full strength as the newest house, also won House Entrepreneurship in December as well as House Debating in March, the inaugural Hose Cup for Drama in the Dixon Cup and are regularly getting second and third places in many events.
