Roger is a big Stoke City fan and has confessed that his love of football led to a few moments of mischief during his old school days when he would escape from boarding to watch his beloved team on Saturdays instead of playing hooker in the school 2nd XV. In those early years after the Second World War, the game was banned at most grammar schools. Today, football is strong at Adams with a House Football trophy that is named after our first ever 1st XV captain, ON Mohammed Abdu, Class of 2012.
Roger went on to build a successful ceramic tile business (Burton Tiles) before retiring at the age of 57. Today he is busy distributing his book and supporting his chosen charity, the Sir Stanley Matthews Coaching Foundation.
Many thanks to Roger for sending school a signed copy of his book. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy can, in the first instance, email oldnovaportans@adamsgs.uk.
