Year eight were the chosen group to be the first to try this venture over two days, one of which happened to coincide with the Haberdashers' Deputation. The aim was to support their younger peers to better communicate and to break down barriers whilst developing greater respect for each other and team work skills.

They spent the full day at Longford taking part in a variety of fun activities organised by the sixth form. These included a quiz, a game of stuck in the mud, an escape room in Longford Hall, a scavenger hunt, outdoor drumming, a cadet drill through the forest, a problem-solving simulation crossing a river and drumming under the trees.

Heads Gary Hickey and Michael Scott commented: "We know that friendships exist between students at our schools but there has never been an opportunity to develop these during the school day. This event enabled previous primary school connections to be reignited, new friendships to be formed and a shared sense of purpose realised between our Year 8 students. Our students had to communicate beyond the screens of their mobile phones! The hard work and enthusiasm of our sixth form team in making this happen was a pleasure to watch and we congratulate them on making the day such a success"
