Our school lottery, which replaced the 100 Club, has been great for raising money for extras that our standard school budget wouldn’t allow for.
It’s now been a year since this was set up and during that time these are what is has raised money for so far:
Library tables
With the arrival of girls in year 7, our librarian at the time, Mrs. Whittingham, decided the library needed some more flexible seating that can be re-configured according to the need of the day and provide a more sociable space for working in small groups so requested £450 for three reconfigurable tables
.
A new tank for Biology
We have had a pet axolotl called Simon in biology for a few years, but when Emma Judd joined the department she brought Simon a friend – Bunsen. Biology requested funding to purchase a tank big enough for the two of them, making it cheaper, easier and more efficient to care for them both compared to two separate tanks.

Orienteering
Mr. Sedman-Smith asked for £150 for orienteering equipment to mark out a new, permanent course within the grounds, which will be set up soon now that the weather will (hopefully) start to improve.
Chess clocks
Following our recent resurgence in chess, organizer Dr Al-Murani requested money to buy some new chess clocks and boards which will be used in their forthcoming fixtures.
The more people who play our lottery, the bigger the weekly prize gets and the more the school gets to spend on enriching the experience for our students.
There is also a chance to win a national jackpot prize of £25,000 and Super Draw prizes such as holiday vouchers or technology items. If you would like to play, visit our page on the Your School Lottery website
